This column provides a daily update on key presidential actions as well as comments, whether spoken aloud or on Twitter, by President Trump. Like the stock market, the deadline for Trump Today action is 4 p.m. Eastern time, even as we acknowledge that substantive news can and does occur after hours.
President Donald Trump said he had “tremendous progress” in talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping over two days in Florida and that their relationship was “outstanding.”
• Trump and Xi met for the second of two days of talks at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla. Trump told the White House pool reporter that he expects more progress with China and that “lots of very potentially bad problems will be going away.” He didn’t elaborate, but the two were expected to focus on the U.S.-China trade imbalance and reining in North Korea’s nuclear program.

‘GREAT HONOR’ ON GORSUCH
• Trump said it was a “great honor” to announce the confirmation by the Senate of Judge Neil Gorsuch, his Supreme Court nominee. “As a deep believer in the rule of law, Judge Gorsuch will serve the American people with distinction as he continues to faithfully and vigorously defend our Constitution,” Trump said. The White House said Gorsuch will be sworn in on Monday.
• The only other public item on Trump’s schedule was a working luncheon at Mar-a-Lago with Xi. China’s Xinhua news agency said Xi invited Trump to visit China, and Trump accepted.
